Iphone versus blackberry

September 30, 2009

Nowadays, cell phones are more than only a cell phone, they have a lot features that can make people think and act all the time with their cell phones. In order to improve theses features, two brands of cell phones have been remarkable on the market, blackberry and Iphone. The mainly difference between both are design, e mail and applications. Both brands have been facing the challenge of being the first one on selling cell phones.

The iphone has made a revolution in the world with their new design; the touch screen made the iphone a model as a cellphone. The new design includes high resolution screens, which contributes to increase the use of the internet, like downloading films and music with the greatest image. On the other hand, Iphone have a bad reputation for being fragile because of touch screen face, but you have many options on the market that help you protect it, from rubber sleeves to hard plastic cases. The blackberry is remarkable in the corporative world, who focused mostly on e mails and calendars feature being behind i phone in terms of design. The Blackberry boasted their cameras and videos after realized their lack of technology, but they still have a long way to achieve.

In terms of e mails, Blackberry is faster than iphone and the corporative environment still prefer being connect faster than design, the e mail service of blackberry is simply the best one. A blackberry set up with Microsoft Exchange Server and they have intelligent e mail service, which downloads the messages immediately on the phone and indicates that a new message has been received. The iphone still has a lot to improve in terms of corporative entities, apple should develop tools to increase the e mail features. The I phone sometimes fail to synchronize as well as the blackberry, it´s difficult to check your e mails in time and some accounts  doesn’t ´t work in iphone.  The iphone does not synchronize calendar and contacts information wirelessly and the blackberry can do this automatically..

The iphone has a lot of applications and there are a thousand of developers doing a millions of applications for iphones everyday. Ever minute I phone has a new application, like games, HP calculator and  programs to boast features and cell phone capacity, but many of them cost money.   The Apple cell phone is a very attractive and revolutionary phone, you can find all kind of programs do you need. Comparing apps in iphone and blackberry, the download with iphone is easy and fast to do it. The process of deleting and install programs in iphone is easy and it takes a few seconds,  however, in blackberry this process require more time and patient. These are the mainly differences between iphone and blackberry that boast cell phone competition

There are a few differences between the two of mobiles phones, both have their own characterizes and features, but Apple can be remarkable of proving they are invincible in design. The iphone good looking made a revolution in terms of design and won the heart of all the consumers in a worldwide scale. As long as innovation in technology exists, the challenge of being the first one in sales mobile phone will still continues.

The creation of Sovereign Funds at Singapore :- Cause and Effect

September 28, 2009

The creation of Sovereign Funds at Singapore

The alternative of using sovereign funds as Government of Singapore Invesment Coporation(GIC), and Temasek Holding are partially the expression of a desire to bolster Singapore’s standing as an international financial centre. First of all, a sovereign fund is a state-owned investment  Fund composed of financial assets  such as  stocks, bonds, property, precious metals or other financial instruments, which invests globally, to create savings accounts to the government. The main reason why Singapore had decided to implement the sovereign wealth funds (SWF) as an alternative to boost their economy are their independence late, the lack of natural resources and the inability to develop primary activities such as cattle raising and agriculture, the lack of space given the small size of the territory of Singapore, and the equity and wealth of Singapore’s government to achieve certain public policy and macroeconomic goals.

The first reason why Singapore had decided to implement the sovereign Wealth funds (SWF) as an alternative to boost their economy relates to the late independency of the country, at 1965. Until 1959, Singapore was a colony of England, when it attained its independence and joined the Commonwealth. In 1963, he joined the Federation of Malaysia, which separated two years later to become an independent state on 9 August 1965. Because of their culture difference, between Malayans and Chinos and Singapore’s abrupt independent, their government didn’t know how to develop and control their economy. At that moment brings exchange money to the country by the structure of sovereign wealth funds (SWF) was a first-class strategy to save money to build up an education, health and habitation program to their citizens. It’s important to mention that the funds owner is the government, but, is the funds managements who decide their investment themes and where they can create value fund for the nation and contribute to the Government’s budget. The Government can allocate up to 50 per cent of the net annual income generated by the funds to the Ministry of Finance’s spending. For instance, Temasek Holdings Incorporated in 1974, which have committed almost $1 billion over the last decade to fund research institutions, scholarships and other public good beneficiaries, of which S$500 million was endowed to the Temasek Trust in May 2007. More recently, they gifted another S$100 billion to the Temasek Trust, this time to support Temasek Cares for community programmers in Singapore. Therefore, after Singapore’s independence, as an alternative to boost their economy, after their independence, they created two sovereign wealth funds (SWF).

The second reason why Singapore had decided to implement the sovereign wealth funds (SWF) as an alternative to boost their economy relates to the lack of natural resources and the inability to develop primary activities such as cattle raising and agriculture, the lack of space given the small size of the territory of Singapore. Non natural exporting counties such as Singapore, which countries finance their SWFs is the transfer of assets from foreign exchange reserves, ensures to their future generations that they can continue to live prosperously using the earnings of their forefathers. Next, most sovereign wealth funds of all country types are created to diversify a country’s income so that it can respond to shocks to the country’s comparative advantages. When a country is faced with a competitiveness crisis, it can call on its sovereign wealth fund assets to reinvest in new sectors of the economy that can revive the country’s competitive advantages. Laurence Lien, director of investment for the Ministry of Finance, which owns Singapore’s funds, supports the idea that mainly in the case of Singapore which has no other alternatives to develop its economy and ensure future generations; the initiative for SWFs is to be paramount to ensure the sustainability of the country as well as a positive trade balance.

The third reason why Singapore had decided to implement the Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWF) as an alternative to boost their economy relates to the equity and wealth of Singapore’s government to achieve certain public policy and macroeconomic goals. The first idea of governance model to Singapore as an independent country was give to their citizens an excellent education system and a habitation system. They believe that with a good education and habitation everything can be constructed, and there is a particularity at Singapore, the wealthy of Singapore’s government brings to the government system and government enterprises the best professionals at the market. However, to run down those public and macroeconomic goals they needed the support of a good finance system, through the creation of the Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWF), managed by the finance minister of Singapore. For example, the wealthy of Singapore’s government is so spread around the world, and the Singapore’s SWFs investment themes centre on Transforming Economies, Growing Middle Class, Deepening Comparative Advantages and Emerging Champions, guarantee to the shareholder too much confidence. Thus, to achieve certain public policy and macroeconomic goals the creation of SWF was a strong and wealthy strategy of the government.

Singapore as a young independent country, the lack of natural resources and the inability to develop primary activities such as cattle raising and agriculture, the lack of space given the small size of the territory of Singapore, and the equity and wealth of Singapore’s government to achieve certain public policy and macroeconomic goals certain are the main reason to implement sovereign funds as a finance important model to acquire money. Of course, after that they need to develop by themselves. But, they had begun with mastery, with the state controlling and owning firms that comprise at least 80% of the GDP through government entities such as the sovereign fund as Temasek, it has an open business environment, relatively corruption-free and transparent, stable prices, and one of the highest per capita Gross domestic products (GDP) in the world.

Claudia – Cause & Effect

September 27, 2009

What are the main factors that threaten the brazilian’ savings?

Earn money is not an easy task. Manage it well and make it multiply over the years is still more complicated. According Mauro Halfeld, professor and financial consultant, the main factors that reducing the possibilities of savings are: spend more that you earn, the need to be constantly buying the expensive nature of the consumer society and the fear of investing.

Not spend more that you earn is already the first step to start savings, because you avoid paying one account more – the account of high interest rates, whether the overdraft, credit card or loan. Second, Halfeld shows us that we can spend less money making better options by changing our diary choices. Have you ever thought about reduce your expenses by choosing a low cost restaurant, hotel, trip, mobile and so one? You should prefer a new hotel than a well know and established one, for instance. Probably this new hotel could offer better prices because, yet, they don’t have enough guests. Therefore, you should try it and hope to see, at the end of the month, your bills become thinner.

Most of people don’t be aware about their truly needs and follow the consumer society buying goods that they, in fact, don’t need it. The advertisement tell us, all the time, that we deserve all kind of comfort or if we would buy deter products we will be smarter, more successful and beautiful. That’s why people like my neighborhood Vinícius, spend his hole salarie to buy a new car every year and it doesn’t matter how much it will be coast. The car is a great villain in the finances of a family. It’s correct to looking for safety, comfort and durability when people buying a new car, however, we should be careful to not fall down into the trap of advertising that seek to make us believe that our goods are an extension of our personality.

The third reason pointed is the fear the Brazilians feel to invest. In the past, Brazilians faced a hyperinflation, in which people just bought food and others basically items for their immediate subsistence. Besides this, there are lacks of personal financial education and accessible economics information that makes people to invest in a confident way. According the Halfeld’s last book, the fear of investing involves emotions as the fear of regret; have to sell stocks for a lower price than it cost and the overconfidence in some kind of successful investments in the past, such as real state, which make people more conservative and not diversify the investments portfolio. Therefore, just the positive and trustful economic brazilian scenario would change, little by little, the face of the new brazilian’s investors.

According all above mentioned, those are the main factors that threaten the brazilian’ savings and in the middle of so many risks, we wish that people may know what are the risks that actually worth.

Investing on Yourself

September 27, 2009

Fear, anxiousness, confusion, nervousness, yet happiness. These are common feelings that a traveler to a new country will experience during his interchange course. Even though, it’s a worthwhile experience if the person knows how to deal with disappointments. Nowadays, taking an interchange course has become easier than some years ago, and there are plenty of options to choose where and how it will be, including price options. Everyone should have a student exchange experience because it’s a way to become more independent, to learn new activities and see the life in a new perspective.

Taking a student exchange is an excellent choice because it helps students become more independent and mature. Having to do things on their own pushes students to grow and force them to learn. This travel gives then freedom to learn from their actions but in an easygoing way while they’re having fun. Alyssa Morton went to Ireland for 2 months and then backpacked with her girl friend around Europe for a year, having occasional jobs. Alyssa Johnson says “Before going on an exchange vacation I learned how to get by by myself, now whenever I’m lost, I’m able to keep myself calm and ask someone that seems trustworthy for directions or find my way back” She added that she has learned how to locate herself and use public transportation in an unknown place. Ron Morton, 50 years old, Alyssa’s father states: “That trip was profitable for Alyssa because she has learned a little more about how the world is by herself which is more appealing and useful than learning by people’s advices. Consequently, becoming more independent and learning how the world works it’s an advantageous lesson that the person will bring for the rest of his life.

Learning new activities while travelling is fun and also helps your mind relaxing. There are plenty of activities to do while in an exchange course like kayaking, English courses, French courses, mountain biking… according to the place someone has travelled to. These activities occupy spare time while providing enjoyment, which could be difficult to schedule in a daily routine. Laura Rodrigues, 48 years old, had decided to travel abroad for 6 months to learn French as a exchange elderly student her relatives were very supportive of the idea, especially her daughter. “When my mom came back, she seemed a whole new person, more jolly and she looked 5 years younger.” Her daughter also added: “She seems ready for doing anything she wants now, after going to the gym there, she realized she has time for it now and she has carried on.” Furthermore, engaging in new activities has been proven to enhance people’s quality of life, which makes an exchange experience a interesting way to meet this objectives.

It’s often realized when travelling abroad that the person changes inside and outside. It happens because any experience people have affects who they are and how they interpret occurrences around them. Being in touch with a new culture broadens people’s mind  and makes them able to see other perspectives, angles and usually makes them more tolerant toward differences. Samantha Burns, 28 years old, is a proof of this:  “My homestay different behavior was awkward for me during the first week, for example their religious beliefs and the fact they would pray every day probably 5 or 6 times daily. But then I got used to it and learn to respect their differences.” Thus, making part of a new group changes view points and bring maturity and tolerance to the integrants because they were in contact with new models of behavior and life.

Considering all the good improvements that an exchange course can proportionate, independency, maturity and learning, it’s evident that whoever is able to have this experience shouldn’t postpone it because it will be a worthwhile personal investment. Currently, having a break from routine is crucial for the health of mind and body, and going abroad on an exchange course has shown its ways of improving people’s lives. Hence, all the unpleasant feelings that are felt during the trip are outweighed by the power of new experiences that are felt and new patterns and activities that are learned.

My worst trip ever

September 26, 2009

When I was about seventeen years old, I took a trip to Miami with my mother for fun since there had been a long time we had traveled abroad. Our plan was to go shopping at Miami malls and also to take a brief trip to Disneyland. I had been there before, when I was a kid about 10 years old, but I wanted to go to Disneyland and the rollercoaster park again because I couldn’t go on the rollercoasters when I was little due to my height.

I was extremely happy to go there again. It felt like I was going to an exciting, full of adventure world that could make me forget about all my problems all at once. In addition, the parks would be places where I could eat different food from what I was used to. I would see different people speaking a strange, intriguing and sophisticated language because it was how it sounded to my ears, where every little detail would be different from the stale routine of going to school that I was used to.

After some days I had been in Miami, I didn’t feel as happy as I thought I would be, because my mother and I didn’t speak English very well. I still knew a bit more English than her back then, since I had English classes at school once a week and there had been some years she hadn’t had any contact with the English language. As a result, we had trouble communicating with native speakers and they probably had trouble trying to figure out what we were trying to say. This strange feeling became more intense, because one of the taxi drivers tried to deceive us by bringing us to a small waterpark near by that had been closed for months and then charging us for it. Besides, we hadn’t planned many activities to do so that we had a huge amount of free time that wasn’t filled up. Furthermore, going to the malls for shopping wasn’t a great joy either, for me, at that time, since going shopping was boring and deterrent. We had spend 15 days in Miami and we had just 5 or 6 days to go to the parks that I was looking forward to.

Arriving at Disneyland brought me a jubilant sensation of delightful adventures to come, making my expectations considerably high on that part of the trip. Afterwards, my hopes all fell apart. I remember being excited about going places trying to drag my mother all around to the attractions, not wanting to waste a tiny single bit of time being idle. The disaster all happened when I ate a love apple at one of the parks. Later on the next day, I begin to feel sick, and suddenly, I saw myself throwing up several times and having diarrhea. It hit me so violently, that I could say I had vomitted countless times in the past 20 hours that afternoon. I had nothing in my stomach and I would puke just a mix of water and stomach bile. The whole next day turned out to be the same scatological outcome. I was so weak that I could barely walk. It was when my mother decided to call a doctor.

The doctor prescribed some pills to me and suggested to avoid eating solid food or any kind of dairy. I was slowly getting better even though, I’d still vomit occasionally. The next day I remained near the room walking around the hotel sometimes just so it wouldn’t be as disappointed and the next 3 following days I would go to the parks but I was prohibitted of going on any attraction that would give me some sort of excitement in order to avoid throwing up. Yet, I wouldn’t care if I’d throw up later, I just felt a strong desire to eventually go on those rollercoasters. Then, the fateful day came, the day we had to fly back home to Brazil. Even when I was in the plane to fly back, I remember vommiting, which afterwards lead my mother to bring me to out doctor again in Brazil. It was very frustrating for me because since I was a 10 year old I had a dream of riding those rollercoasters and again, we had been so far away and I couldn’t do it.

Nevertheless, I tried to take some good lesson from that experience, and it dawned on me that that trip lacked planning. Consequently, if I wanted not to have so many problems and a awkward trip like that, one of the solutions would be that I’d have at least to learn how to communicate with natives from the place I was in properly, so I decided to take English lessons apart from school. Today, that decision has shown results, because I understand and speak much better English that I used to.

The consequences of piracy

September 25, 2009

The growth of piracy has been affecting our economy in a bad way. A lot of countries have been losing a lot of money due to the effects of piracy. The impact of this pratice is soo difficult to measure on a worldwide scale, however, certain consequences can be remarkable. Some remarkable consequences of piracy are illegal business, losses in tax for the goverment and job losses. Nowadys, piracy is alredy difficult to measure and the negative effects can damage our economy beyond the expectations.

Piracy is a illegal business that create a criminal environment which the illicit business activities take places of legal business, resulting negative impact on worldwide economy. This pratice of seeling produtcs without lisence has been spreading so fast and reducing a lot the profits for a legal company. Moreover, criminal pratices like piracy with low risks and high profits can incentive another illicital organizations. The groth of piracy have been affecting in a bad way the developlement of our economy and the goverment should assume a drastic posticion in realtion of this topic, protecing better the companies rights.

The taxes in Brazil is the one of the most factors that makes brazilians buy illegal products, the taxes are too high and increases the product price in almost 45% of the original price. This is the reason why most of part of the brazilians still incentive the pratice of piracy in our country without thinking of the social and economy consequences. The consequence of piracy is the Goverment don’t recieve part of this taxes they should colletc. The problem could be minimaze if the Goverment reduces the taxes under products, guaranting low prices for all the products in our market.
The position from the Goverment is crucial for controling the spread of piracy in a wordwide.

The problem of piracy has attracted attencion from the goverment mainly because of job losses. This effect can be seen in the numbers of jobs losses caused from piracy, in USA in a year they estimate the job losses are 120.000 and over 100.000 in Europe. In Brazil they estimate 50.000 formal jobs are destroyed because of cd piracy, and if the piracy could be controled the countrie would have 115.000 new job places.
These numbers showed how piracy affect significant the numbers of jobs in our economy. While the spread of piracy may not be totally controled, it is possible to the Goverment limit the worst effects of piracy.

While the problem of piracy probably will became wost and persist, improvements in many fronts are important to controll the piracy spread. The Goverment is the most important front that can minimaze this problem and reduce eradication of piracy in many contries. thus, policy goals can reduce the problem and contributes for the development of the countries. These goals are the best way to eradicate piracy problem and avoid negattive effects in our society and economy.

Rules to improve quality of life – Midterm review

September 24, 2009

What would you do if you had 40 extra days in one year? That’s the amount of time that someone living in a big city as Sao Paulo loses every year stuck in traffic. Roads have been created by Egyptians to make the communication between the cities easier, but after the Factory Revolution, traffic has become a problem to the Governs around the world, and limits to the vehicles have been created trying to make traffic better. In huge cities like Sao Paulo, the restrictions should be bigger than they are: motorcycles have to be included in the license plates restrictions, the carpool lanes must be respected, and toll must be paid to access the city downtown.

A way to improve the traffic in Sao Paulo is expanding the license plate restrictions on motorcycles. Although they have a smaller size than a regular car, the number of motorcycles is increasing and lots of accidents have been occurring disturbing the traffic. Professor Bernardo Codman, a PhD of traffic engineering responsible for the statistics of CET (Traffic Engineering Company) of SP calls the attention to the fact that last year occurred 1 accident involving a motorcycle driver each 10 minutes in the city of SP and every one of those accidents were responsible for around 10km of traffic. He also said that every month there’s an input of 300 new motorcycles in SP. That’s why having few motorcycles driving at the same time, respecting the restriction of the license plate policy, traffic would be improved.

Another important topic is the creation of carpool lanes in SP. Having strict monitoring of carpool lanes for cars with 2 or more people will encourage the citizen to give a lift to the neighbors. Willian Knobel, the engineer responsible for the creation of carpool lanes in the city of Los Angeles said that after the restrict monitoring of the traffic in LA in the last 10 years, people who takes the carpool lanes may arrive up to 45 minutes earlier than other people who don’t use it. Thus, the carpool lanes must be implanted and regulated in SP in order to improve the traffic.

Another relevant topic is the toll payment to access the city center. This is the worst area to the traffic in all cities and a crowd of cars makes it impossible to walk around. Juan Velasquez, the traffic manager of Mexico City said that after they have implanted the toll in Mexico 30% of people start using public transportation reducing the traffic jam in 25%. In SP, a toll must be created to access downtown area because it’s impossible to walk around during the crowded hours.

In SP, the restrictions to the traffic must be enlarged because we’re almost getting stuck. Of course, the traffic engineers must do a wide research on the impacts that every decision will take on citizens’ life but it’s mandatory to start immediately. Paulistanos can’t lose more than a month per year commuting. They deserve a better quality of life.

The Hurricane iPhone – Cause/effect

September 23, 2009

IPhone sell more than a 150% of the second cell phone brand in Brazil. For many years, the Brazilian market didn’t meet the Apple technology but once it was introduced to the Brazilian’s population it becomes a red spot in sells. Since iPhone has been launched on its first generation around 2 years ago, it has become a number-one in selling around the world even in Brazil, where, due to the taxes imposed, it has the higher price in earth, but keeps being the cell phone most sold in Brazil until now. Some reasons could be raised to explain this blast out such as, having very interactive entertainment games, being innovative in the way old features, like Bluetooth, works, and having the biggest storage capacity.

IPhone has the most interactive platform to play games in market. Apple made a revolution on the way games can be played on cell phones allowing people to use their movements to move the characters on the screen or using the mouth to play a flute. If the clients want to play Ice Age 3D they may lead Scrat or Sid through a pre-historic skate half-pipe and just tilting their iPhone they’ll make the characters go up and down as well right and left. But if they rather to learn how to play the flute they just have to blow the cell phone charger-entrance to have a very good sound! This kind of interactive has never been seen before and helped the iPhone to be the leader into the cell phone-market.

Another advantage that iPhone presents in front of the others smartphones in market nowadays is its innovative Bluetooth. I know almost all phones in stores have this feature included on their platforms but no one works so well as the iPhone. The Apple device is able to transmit any song stored in it to the radio of the car and suddenly the shoppers’ favorite songs would be listened on their car’s sound system. In addition, answering or making a phone call using the voice control and listen to the person on the other side through the cars’ sound with hands-free! Furthermore, the Bluetooth from iPhone protects the rights of a singer or the owner of software because it blocks the transmission of songs and programs between other cell phones even if it’s another iPhone. With such a modern feature iPhone makes lots of points in front of the others smartphones.

Storage space is not a problem to iPhone users anymore. In this generation iPhone comes with the biggest storage capacity in market with up to 32Gb allowing the storage of more than 5000 songs or up to more than 3000 photos or even keep the owners favorite movie to watch wherever they want. With the new iPhone the access of thousands of business applications or getting secure network connectivity without worrying about losing memory is a real fact! Besides that, the Apple processor allows to maintain all those things on the iPhone keeping its velocity. Thus, not only the storage capacity is better in the iPhone but its ability to organize the apps without being slow and more: there’s no need of using other gadgets as Portable Game Players or MP3 players because there’s enough space on it an can be carried as a truth all-in-one device.

The platform used in iPhone makes it so interactive to play games, the Bluetooth so useful and the storage capacity so big that help to explain why it’s selling so much in Brazil. Of course there are so many others features that can catch the attention of the Brazilian’s consumers such as the camera, the compass, mail, GPS and many others that it’s impossible to say that these three are the most important ones. But, after Brazilian’s have been introduced to the iPhone they changed the way they look to cell phones.

Writing 3 – Alternative solutions for SP traffic

September 22, 2009

To order pizza, to shave, to apply makeup, to read, to listen to English classes, are common activities held in car by those who live in São Paulo city and daily face one of the worst traffic in the world. Magazines as Time and Forbes, say the worst traffic is in Bangkok, however, the traffic jam records are in São Paulo. The latest record was in June, 10th with 293km of tailback, which means more than 50% of streets jammed. The most familiar solution claimed by everybody is to improve the public transportation. However, this solution has low feasibility because it is expensive and slow to implement (investment of US$14,4billion and 12 years to reach 170km of subway – Today, London has 408km and São Paulo 60km), moreover cities such as London or New York, which have a huge and solid public transportation structure suffer from the same traffic problems. Thus, other cheaper and faster solutions should be implemented to reduce the traffic in São Paulo, for example, charge tolls  and prohibit old vehicles circulation.

The first attitude would be to charge tolls to circulate in the most jammed zones. This measure seems unpopular, but it has been proved to work in cities around the world, such as London, Cingapura, Oslo and Estocolmo. According to Ben Pennington, the spokesmen of London Traffic Control Agency, since the toll charging was implemented in 2003, the traffic reduced 20% and 50% of the toll revenue was invested in public transportation. The favorable outcomes obtained the population’s approval to expand the charged zones. Experts estimate an investment of US$130million to implement the toll gates, and the revenue would be US$370million per year, charging US$1.00 per vehicle. Thus, undoubtfully such solution should be adopted in order to reduce the traffic in São Paulo city.

Nowadays, there is no restriction to new cars entry in São Paulo fleet. From Sep, 2000 until Sep 2008, São Paulo fleet has grown at an average of 500 vehicles per day, reaching 6,4million in 2009. If it is impossible to control new cars entry, it is mandatory to control the old cars circulation. From 800 occurrences daily registered by São Paulo Traffic Control Agency (CET), 57% are related to broken down cars. Moreover, according to the National Traffic Department, 73% of the fleet is more than 10 years old, which are the most likely to present problems. A broken down car clogging a lane of Marginal Tietê for 15 minutes generates 3km of traffic. Some european countries have implemented Periodically Technical Vehicle Inspection and have reduced from 5 to 10% the accident’s level, and in Mexico the inspection also benefited the environment: 30% lower pollutant emission from cars. Hence, the inspection should also be implemented in São Paulo, since the investment is low, around US$300million, because it can use the current structure created for the Vehicle Inspection. Adopting the inspection, experts say that 30% of the actual fleet would be withdrawn from the streets.

Accordingly to the exposed above, a plan to reduce the traffic jam in São Paulo must not only considers the public transportation, but also feasible measures of fast implementation with low cost. There are other low cost and effective methods adopted in other countries which can be found at Portal Veja – Solutions for the Chaos.  Sao Paulo urges to implement such solutions in order to decrease the time people spent commuting.
